Militias

In common usage, the term Militia refers to an armed force consisting of civilians. Sometimes they are organised by a state, but many times they are not. They are generally formed as a local defence force. In a period of Total War they are usually drawn from older men who had served in the regular army when they were young as well as the percentage of the youth who are too young or unfit for military service.
